Description: A bandana neckerchief with text reading "REMEMBER THE 38 / DECEMBER 26, 1862", circa 1997. The bandana features a four winds design encircled by 38 eagle feathers, each naming one of the thirty-eight Dakota Indians hanged at Mankato on December 26, 1862 following the 1862 U.S. - Dakota War. The bandana was designed by Clement Paul "Babe" Whipple of Omaha, Nebraska, possibly commemorating the dedication of the limestone buffalo carving at Reconciliation Park in Mankato, Minnesota.
