Titles: Wool wedding dress and jacket worn by Mary T. Hill (Supplied title)

Description: Two piece wedding dress of blue-grey wool lined with glazed cotton. The dress, probably homemade, consists of a one-piece dress (A) with vertical waist darts, a piped bodice waist seam, coat sleeves with piping and velvet trim, and a six gore skirt with U-shaped, scalloped cutouts trimmed in velvet decorating the hem. The matching, unstructured jacket (B) is machine stitched. The jacket has pagoda sleeves and a flared hem with no closure. The hem edge and sleeve edge are trimmed with velvet ribbon. There is one mended tear at the center back. The set was worn by Mary T. Hill at her wedding to James J. Hill in 1867.
