Description: Three dimes dating to 1838 (.1); 1840 (.2); and 1856 (.3). The coins are identical in their design, which includes engravings of Liberty seated on her shield on the front and the words "One dime" and "United States of America" on the back. The engravings on the reverse of .3 have been worn away beyond recognition. The dimes were originally carried in a coin purse used by Sergeant Matthew Marvin of the 1st Minnesota Infantry Regiment, Company K during the Civil War.
