Description: A miniature Ojibwe birchbark storage container or makak decorated in floral motifs employing colored cord and yarn and filled with maple sugar, circa the late 19th to early 20th century. It was collected by Darwin S. Hall at the White Earth Reservation, Minnesota.

  • Approximately 1891 - Not later than 1919 (Darwin Hall was appointed chairman of the Chippewa Indian Commission by President Harrison in 1891 and served in that capacity off and on for several years.) (Discovery)
