Description: BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Arthur W. Quiggle was born in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota in 1890. He attended Minneapolis Business College for shorthand and book keeping (1908), and received Bachelor of Arts (1913) and Masters (1914) degrees in civil engineering from the University of Minnesota. His employment history includes: general manager of the Creamette Company 1914-1939, Vice President of H. H. King Flour Mills Co. 1941-1956, and owner of H.H. King Flour Mills 1956-1977. Quiggle died in April 1977. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: Quiggle's formal education and work experience, and the change of the H.H. King company from a flour mill to a grain storage house to an investment company. Quiggle speaks of his involvement with the development of the Creamette Company from the Mother's Macaroni company, and describes the process of milling flour and making macaroni. Also, the effects of semolina and durum wheat on the flour industry are discussed. Quiggle chronicles the history of the H.H. King company, as well as the history of flour milling innovations.
