Dakota beaded coin purse
|
|
Description | A small Dakota purse lined with light brown cotton material to which an exterior of black velvet decorated with glass beads in a symmetrical curvilinear motifs has been sewn. The body and flap are edged in blue silk, circa the mid-19th century. While this object certainly may have been collected among the Dakota, its aesthetic indicates its origin is with the Wabanaki of the extreme northeastern United States. Made for sale. |
