Description |
One cloth bag, (.1) that contains two bundles of gauze influenza masks (.2, .3), and a paper description tag (.4). Each mask has muslin ties sewn to each corner, and is marked with row of three black cross-stitches. Tag reads, "INVOICE INSDIE THIS TAG." red ink across top front. Masks were made by Saint Paul Red Cross volunteers at the request of the United States Army for use in Minnesota training camps and by civic leaders for use by the general population during the Spanish influenza pandemic, 1918-1919. |
