Description |
Black wool vest has black satin back and lining, four slash pockets, a stitched-down shawl collar. The fly-front has four black fabric-covered metal shank buttons. In back, an adjustable half-belt has a black metal buckle and the maker/owner label stitched to underside. Black zigzag braid trims the collar, center-front opening and front hemline. The right front opening (as worn) interior has a 5 cm long loop of black cord which may be for a watch chain. The right front is also stitched with an "X" of red thread. The back is waist length; the front is 13 cm longer and tapers to V at center. The half-belt tag is printed and handwritten "SCHAUB BROS.,/ St. Paul, Minn./ J. J. Hill/ No. 11381 Date MAY 1901". [All National Bureau of Standards colors]. |
