Description: Black [this is a National Bureau of Standards color] wool evening tailcoat is double-breasted with a notched collar and peaked lapels that are faced with black silk. The coat has a two-button closure at center front, with two black fabric covered metal shank buttons and two button holes on either side. The coat is lined with black satin and has two inside pockets. The sleeves are lined with pale satin that is close in color to the National Bureau of Standards color yellow white. Two buttons are located on the waist back and on each stitched down cuff. Two extra buttons on thread are looped through a left front (as worn) buttonhole. A black fabric label at neckline features a red, yellow and white heraldic motif and "SCHAUB BROS./ St. Paul, Minn./ Jas. J. Hill/ Sept 1899". The left side of the label is marked "No 9658".
