Description: Presentation sword (.A) with scabbard (.B) and sword knot (.C) made by the Ames Manufacturing Company of Chicopee, Massachusetts, and owned by Alexander Ramsey while he served as Secretary of War. The blade is etched with foliage motifs on both sides. The hilt has a chain knucklebow, shield counterguard, and pommel shaped like a Roman soldier. The grips are inlaid with mother of pearl with brass wire wrappings, and there is a bullion sword knot attached. The gold-colored scabbard with suspension rings and asymmetrical drag.
