Description: A United States Armed Forces Purple Heart medal. It consists of a gold-colored heart containing a purple inner heart against which is set a gold-colored bust of George Washington. Above is a white enameled shield with two horizontal red bars surmounted by three red stars. The shield is flanked by two green sprays. The back reads, "FOR / MILITARY / MERIT / Harold B. / Berlin". It is suspended from a purple ribbon with white edges. It was awarded to Private Harold Berlin of Red Wing, Minnesota, after 1932 for action in World War I.
