    If this photo is an ambrotype, I don't think it can have been taken in 1850. Ambrotypes had a short life, from 1855-1865. Jean Baptisite Faribault, pne of the persons in this photo [Collection III.43.91] has a photo of himself in your collection dated to 1850 and it is a daguerreotype--which makes sense. J. B. Faribault, who died in 1860, looks much younger there than he does in the group photo. George Faribault and Euphrasie St. Antoine were, indeed, married in 1850 and I don't dispute the persons in the photograph are correctly identified. I just doubt this can be a wedding or 1850 photo if it is really an ambrotype. Also, the preservers or cases of ambrotypes were plain until about 1859, when they became ornate. As you can see, the preserver of this photo is of the ornate style.
