Description BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Bert Pfeifer was born in 1915 in North Dakota in the Red River Valley twenty miles west of Fargo. Hew was the original owner of Bert's Cabins, a resort bordering Lake Itasca State Park. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: Birthplace, first jobs, working at Wegmann's store, how the store was supplied, customers, season, services, best selling items. Founding of Bert's Cabins, how it came about and was first established. Clients, length of stay, activities, amenities, meals. Changes in clientele, resort over time, in the length of the season, and importance of hunting and fishing. His relationship with the Park and how that has changed over time. Changes in Park management and policies. Changes in the Park to trees, water, wildlife, infrastructure, roads, camping, food and boating.
