Description: BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Ruby Treloar was born on August 22, 1920 five miles from Bay Lake Lodge, Deerwood, Minnesota. After marrying in 1939, she spent a year in Hinkley and a year in New York and then in 1941 came to Bay Lake Lodge to serve as head dining room girl. She worked at Marathon Shores resort in Florida as well. She was considered part of the Ruttger family. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: Birth and where she grew up, helped Max at Pine Beach first, then assisted Alec at Bay Lake Lodge, early memories of the resort. Changes in the lodge and dining room over the years, meal times, what was served, how the tables were set, how many were served, furnishings, linens, china, flatware, dress of guests, staff responsibilities, menus, desserts, entertainments, liquor, differences between breakfast, lunch and dinner, change in food choices, menu offerings, holiday celebrations, Oktoberfest, Mother's Day, Rhubarb Day, tree plantings to honor long time staff and guests, recipes, conference service, weddings, expansion of services, auxiliary restaurants, and dining rooms, length of season, where staff is and was recruited from, laundry, waitress uniforms, closing up the resort. Differences between working in Florida and Minnesota. Description of Florida operation, duties, layout, guests, and amenities. Addition of alcoholic beverages to Bay Lake Lodge menu, Impressions and memories of various Ruttger family members.
