Description: BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Mr. Lyght was born in Pennsylvania in 1913. His parents came to Minnesota in December of that year (to Lutsen via Duluth). He received his B.A. from the University of Minnesota in 1941 and his M.E.D. also from the U in 1951. He worked as an administrative assistant in the St. Paul school system. His father was Hosey Posey Lyght and his mother was Stella Jefferson Lyght. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: Mr. Lyght discusses family history, his parents' migration to Lutsen, Minnesota and homestead experiences and early family life there. He also discusses relations with white neighbors, Indians, and black social and community life in Northern Minnesota.
