Description: BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Mr. Nichols was born in Tower, Minnesota on July 27, 1900. His parents, John Nichols (born in Chester, Pennsylvania in 1865 and died in Minnesota in 1907) and Nora O'Brian (born in Ballyduff, near Lismore, County of Waterford, North Ireland in about 1865) were pioneers who arrived in the area in 1884. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: Mr. Nichols recalls family history and discusses early life in Tower, Indian and white relations, the lumber and mining industries, his wife's pioneer family and his life in Duluth (1936-74).
