Description: BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Carl Grovum was born in 1908. His family lived in Red Lake for seven years before coming to the Zippel Bay Area in 1904. Carl worked at the Zippel Fishery from 1928 until it closed. For a few years he worked in the laundry of a rest home in the Twin Cities and at a casket factory in Chicago. He has lived in Williams, Minnesota since he built his home there in 1941. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: The interview consists of the history of the Zippel family and the fishery. There is some information of the first settlers and the bay itself.
