Description: BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Clarence Johnson was born in Austin, Minnesota on October 19, 1909. He worked in the Armory in Austin until about 1934 when he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps. He worked in Company #729 at Big Lake until it moved to Wilton in 1935, then left the Company altogether in 1936. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: During the Interview, Mr. Johnson talks about the CCC camps. He tells about the buildings, the Forestry Service located at the camp, hours men worked and the kind of work done. Included are methods used in work, a description of work during the winter, accidents, and the types of people who worked in these camps.
