Description BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Alfred "Irv" Nelson joined the Civilian Conservation Corps on April 6, 1936 after its move to Rabideau Lake, six miles south of Blackduck, at the age of seventeen. He joined Company #708 which had originated at Fort Snelling, Minnesota on May 5, 1933. On May 27, 1933 the camp was moved to Winnie Dam or Bena, and later on January 5, 1936 the camp moved to Rabideau Lake, It was after this move that Mr. Nelson joined. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: In this interview, Mr. Nelson speaks of the jobs of enrollees and others at the camp. He tells of the camp life and of the jobs during the winter. Included is a short description of workers reunions and current jobs of those people.
