Description: BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Harold F. Rogge was born in Winona in 1910 and lived in there most of his life. He finished high school in 1927 and earned a Bachelor's degree from Winona State, a Master's from the University of Ohio and a Doctorate from the University of Minnesota. In 1933 Rogge had his first experience with Max Conrad. During the Depression, Rogge worked at the Winona Airport for Conrad to finance his flying lessons. After the war he flew for and with Conrad on business and pleasure trips. He taught flying instruction at Conrad's flying school in Minneapolis and then did the same thing in Winona. He then joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, went to Winnipeg, transferred to British Columbia and got his wings in Fort McCloud, Alberta after 11 months. He then transferred to RAF and went to New Brunswick, from there to England, then transferred to the American Air Force, then Europe, 2 years in England, one year on the Continent, France and Germany, then back home where he started flying for Max Conrad again. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: The tape consists of Rogge's biographical background, early experiences with Conrad and aviation, Rogge's war experiences and Rogge's later experiences with Conrad and aviation.
