Description: BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Janise Timbeross grew up in the Sogn/Nansen Valley. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: Timbeross provided information about the history of families in the Sogn/Nansen Valley, including regional (Norwegian) dialects spoken and area church affiliations based on these traditional ethnic distinctions. She also talked about early life in the valley, some farming practices, social gatherings, the use of woodlots and springs, foods - including her father's ordering Lake Superior fish - the cheese factory and her family history. She provided extensive information about the interrelationships of the valley families and gave information about the social interconnectedness of the families during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
