Description: BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Kathy began her involvement with Minnesota Women's Press, Inc (MWP) in 1992 as a volunteer. She worked with subscription mailing, text entry and fill-in work. In 1994 she became the copy editor. Prior to working at MWP, she held various positions at neighborhood newspapers and colleges, and graduated from the University of Minnesota. She was the mother of two children. Jennifer started working at MWP as an editorial intern in 1998. Since July of 1999, she had been the assistant editor. Jen has a degree from St. Olaf College, and worked in the Lutheran Volunteer Corps and as a Youth Director at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Amy was an intern at MWP, and had worked as editorial intern and sales assistant since 1998. She also freelanced some articles for various publications, including MWP. Amy graduated from the University of Minnesota in journalism and women's studies. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: Individual histories of involvement with MWP; changes in editorial staff; the process of creating News Notes; the Girls Issues of the newspaper; choosing the Profile woman, and its difficulties; appealing to a diversity of readers; feminism and MWP; Letters and feedback from readers and other customers; interactions of editorial staff with other departments at MWP; the timing and crunches in putting paper out; differences and similarities between MWP and other work organizations; MWP and its values and impact.
