Description BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Carol first served as an informal advisor to Minnesota Women's Press, Inc. (MWP) during its start-up stage. She then served on the advisory board, providing advice in the areas of finance and strategic planning. She had more recently provided informal support, and published an article on the evolution of MWP in the St. Paul Pioneer Press during 1999. Carol founded her own business in 1972. She was an adjunct professor in the School of Journalism at the University of Minnesota for ten years, and had been a columnist at the St. Paul Pioneer Press since 1997. Carol was active in a broad range of community affairs, including serving as chair of the Governor's Commission on Entrepreneurship and Innovation and the vice chair of the Minnesota News Council. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: Differences between the Minnesota Women’s Press and Twin Cities Woman, an earlier publication focused on women; difficulties with motivation of MWP regarding achieving profits; advisory board focus; 1989 strategic planning retreat; early issues of newspaper; newspaper design changes; advertising; annual survey of women in the mainstream press; MWP values; feminism and MWP; comparison of MWP with other companies; management succession; MWP and community of women that support it.
