Description: BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Wally Blomquist was a native East Sider whose family ran a paint store on Payne Avenue. He served in the Seabees in World War II and after the war took over the store, opening a branch in the 1950s. He sold the store to a paint company in the mid-1980s. Berniece Blomquist was born in Montana and moved to St. Paul in 1940. She was never involved in the store. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: Wally's family starting with his father working at Swanson's Paint Store near the turn of the twentieth century. Some history of Aland Island near Finland.
