---|---|
Description |
The front side of this document dates to July 3, 1813 and attests to Lawrence Taliaferro's membership in the Franklin Society. On the back side,Taliaferro lists the names of slaves in his ownership, writing in a note, "21 freed from slavery 1839-40-43." It is not known if Taliaferro owned all these slaves at once, if he freed them all at once, and if he owned them during his tenure as Indian Agent. Also unknown is the date on which he originally wrote the list. |

I believe the date is the 3rd of July, 1813, not the 13th. I do not see a 1 in front and I do see "3d" which would make sense to be third.
Thank you for your comment, the record has been updated.
My grandmother is a Taliaferro and I am interested in her history.
