Description In this letter dated July 30, 1822, Colonel George Gibson (Commissary General of Subsistence) asks Lieutenant Nathan Clark (Assistant Quartermaster at St. Peters, later known as Fort Snelling) to send him a list of materials needed at Fort Snelling between June of 1823 and May of 1824. Gibson tells Clark to exclude from the list those objects that can be manufactured at Fort Snelling (including candles and vinegar) as well as those already on hand.
