  • Sibley started construction on this stone building located outside the fort wall behind the sutler's store in November 1864 but was ordered by Fred Myers, Quartermaster of the Northwest Department, in December to stop because the building did not conform to log construction standards. Sibley had the photograph taken to illustrate how close the building was to completion and was given approval to finish the construction by J.J. Dana in January 1865. The building later became the Commissary-Warehouse, Building 14, and was torn down in 1972.
