Description: This document, dated September 30, 1835, allows Joseph Rock to trade with the Sisseton and Yankton Sioux (Dakota) tribes at the place known as "Little Rock" for one year. The license also lists others who are allowed to trade in addition to Rock. As the Indian Agent at Fort Snelling, Lawrence Taliaferro possessed the power to determine who could trade with Native Americans and the locations of those trades.
