Description: BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Doris Shea Strand was born in 1922 in Minnesota. After graduating from high school in 1940, she worked in the main offices of Minneapolis Moline, a farm equipment manufacturer. During the war years the company re-tooled and produced for the war effort. In 1944, she married and relocated to California. In June 1945, she returned to Minnesota. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: Working at Minneapolis Moline; increase in employment of women during the war; brownouts, bond drives, and rationing during the war; writing letters to servicemen; getting married to a Marine during the war; celebration of V-J Day; moving to San Diego and then back to Minneapolis during the war.
