This photo and several others in this collection that are currently labeled "elevated railroad bridge" document the construction of the Smith Avenue High Bridge in St. Paul (a similar - correctly labeled view - with the same handwritten date notation is in the MHS collection - [MR2.9 SP4.2 p259]). Several of these photos feature views of the "Little Italy" neighborhood located below the bridge on the Upper Levee Flats.
