Description BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Ann Calvert was principal project coordinator for Community Planning and Economic Development in Minneapolis at the time of the interview. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: Early riverfront planning and project-by-project steps toward implementing the plans; importance of the Minneapolis Park Board developing access to the river; the Crown Roller Mill fire; role of MCDA (Minneapolis Community Development Agency) in developments such as the Whitney Hotel and Ceresota Elevators; the West River Parkway land deal; the Stone Arch Bridge; the purchase of the Chicago Northwestern railroad yards; city infrastructure improvements on the west bank; work and structure of the Saint Anthony Falls Heritage Board; and the work of the Minneapolis Riverfront Corporation.
