Description: Dr. Manolis was born, raised, and trained in Minneapolis. He always intended to practice clinical medicine/psychiatry, and ended up in private practice for his entire career. He describes the background of his decision to become a psychiatrist, then in some detail describes various aspects of private hospital, outpatient, and administrative practice. He also gives considerable detail about the changes in psychiatry as a result of managed care and HMOs, leading to the demise of his clinic group, and a hospital as well. He also describes the great variety in his practice, which he hopes will be available to psychiatrists in the future.
