Description: Green brocade and watered silk machine-stitched dress with a floral design and black velvet stripes and buttons, circa 1860-1865. The dress was worn by Anna McVean McLaren, wife of General Robert Neil McLaren, commander at Fort Snelling from 1862 to 1865. In 1860 Anna was 28 years old. The couple had a 2 year-old son, Archibald, and a daughter, Jane, on the way.
