Titles US Army issue gas mask and bag
Description United States Army issue World War I era gas mask enclosed its olive drab canvas bag with carrying strap and "lift-the-dot" style fasteners. The bag is stamped "4", which indicates the size of the mask. The mask has a rubberized fabric mask with two glass covered oculi and a strap arrangement for holding it to the face. The mask is connected via a green cloth-covered rubber tube to a painted yellow metal filter container. Attached to the tube near the container's opening is a waxed paper envelope containing an instruction pamphlet. Also included is one metal canister of anti-dimming compound. Worn by Raymond F. Kelly of the Service of Supply, Advance Section. Kelly was a Saint Paul, Minnesota, speed skater. This style mask is known as the Richardson-Flory-Kops Mask and was an improved version of earlier models.
