BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Pat Thayer began her involvement in AIDS when she coordinated AIDS education training for teachers in the Minneapolis school system. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: She discusses AIDS from a perspective of an inner-city school teacher, particularly within her role as a sexuality educator. In the year that this interview was conducted, ten percent of her female students became pregnant. Thayer discusses her frustrations with "victimization" in the United States, the violence she and her students face and factors perpetuating the AIDS epidemic. |
