Not Waiting for a Cure Oral History Project: Interview with Violetta
BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Violetta is a "radical faerie liberationist fag" who works with homeless youth. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: The interview follows his journey of self-discovery and self-declaration, covering his "confused" sexuality, his community activism and his spirituality. Violetta came of age as a man who has sex with men in the era of AIDS, and he describes the disease as "like depression, a recognizable, consistent, almost reliable feature of my community." As a person who lives on the margins of society, Violetta provides a radical humanist perspective on the United States and his fears and hopes for the future.
