Description BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Norma grew up in a small town newspaper family. She began working at Minnesota Women's Press, Inc. (MWP) in 1990 on a part-time basis in text-entry. She soon was working full-time for the organization, and at the time of the interview was systems coordinator and production coordinator. Her educational background was in textile designat the University of Minnesota. Before she began working at MWP, she was a self-employed seamstress and fiber artist. She also spent many years as a full-time mother to two sons. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: Early text entry activities; production methods and equipment; origin and development of the systems coordination position; sizing the newspaper; history of MWP Directory; employee incentives; website development and scope; emphasis on communication at MWP; practices regarding accommodation to employee needs and desires; feminism and MWP; diversity and homogeneity among staff; impact of MWP.
