Minnesota Women's Press, Inc. Oral History Project: Interview with Denise Scheibe
BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Denise had been involved with Minnesota Women's Press, Inc. (MWP) since its inception. She worked in accounts receivable, advertising, delivery, computers, book groups, the bookstore, and wrote for MWP publications. At the time of the interview created materials and traveled with MWP in its "Book Groups on the Road". Denise knew Glenda Martin and Mollie Hoben (co-founders and publishers of MWP) well. She worked with them at School District 278: Special Education prior to their formation of MWP. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: Description of early distribution methods and problems; co-founder and organizational issues/problems regarding money; feminism of the founders and its effects on MWP; formation of book related businesses; leadership transition; book groups on the road; relationship between co-founders; strengths of co-founders; impact of company on employees.
