Titles 5th Minnesota regimental battle flag
Description The regimental battle flag of the 5th Minnesota Infantry with cord and tassels. The flag consists of one layer of blue silk. The front features a painting of the Great Seal of the State of Minnesota in the center with a ribbon painted over the seal inscribed with the Minnesota state motto "L'ETOILE DU NORD" in gold pigment. Beneath the seal is a painted red ribbon outlined with gold, holding the unit designation "5TH REGT. MINNESOTA VOLUNTEERS." The reverse is similar, featuring a painting of the Great Seal of the United States with the US motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM." above and "5TH REGT. MINNESOTA VOLUNTEERS." below. The flag is bordered on three sides by gold fringe. See also the staff, 2007.84.3.B.
