Civil War bullets

Three bullets retrieved from the Civil War battlefield at Pine Bluff, Arkansas, circa 1875. Bullets include a round ball, a Minié bullet, and a re-shaped Minié bullet.

These are three examples of the type of bullets used by both sides during the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862. Both Dakota and U.S. soldiers used muzzle-loading weapons which required at least 9 separate steps to load and fire properly.
