Newspaper report of the return of the 4th Minnesota Infantry.

St. Cloud Democrat, July 27, 1865

With the tide of returning veterans, this tried body of men returned home this week, arriving in St. Paul on Monday evening. They were received in a manner that is most gratefully spoken of by such of the boys as we have seen. The Fourth has seen a great deal of hard service, participating in some of the severest battles of the Union, and was with Sherman in his grand march by the sea. These brave men will be welcomed home to a life of quiet citizenship, for the enjoyment of which all are indebted to them and their comrades in arms.
