Ada Ann Krejci was born in 1893 in New York City, the youngest child of Czechoslovakian immigrants. Shortly thereafter the Krejci family moved to New Prague, Minnesota and then to Minneapolis. Ada met future governor Floyd B. Olson at the Savoy Theater, where he worked as an usher and she was the pianist. They married in 1917 and had one child, Patricia.
Floyd B. Olson became Minnesota's 22nd governor in 1931. Ada remained in the background during Olson's terms as governor.
In 1935 the Olsons began spending summers on Gull Lake, near Brainerd, Minnesota. Governor Olson died unexpectedly of cancer in 1936. Ada remained in Minneapolis until 1951, when she moved permanently to Brainerd. In 1958 she was invited to return to St. Paul to unveil the memorial statue of her husband during a Labor Day dedication on the State Capitol mall.
Ada Olson died of a heart attack at her home in Brainerd in 1969, aged 75.
