35W Bridge Collapse Digital Images

Featured search image.

On August 1, 2007, the Interstate 35W bridge over the Mississippi River collapsed. Photographer PS1 Kevin Rofidal of the United States Coast Guard took several digital photos to document the disaster, and rescue and recovery efforts. 55 of those images were donated to MHS and are featured on the Photo and Art Database.

This is also the first born digital collection featured on this database. With digital photography now a means of documenting history, more born digital images will be featured in our Photo and Art Database.
