Titles: Quilled moccasins (Supplied title)
Description: This pair of slipper-style leather moccasins was collected by C. B. Tirrell of the 1st Minnesota Volunteer Regiment, Company C, during the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862. His family claimed they were collected from the Ojibwe, but the construction is not typically Ojibwe; possibly Dakota. Sinew- and thread-sewn with rawhide sole. Decorated with dyed quill work in floral motif. Foot opening originally bound with black ribbon of which only fragments remain.
