Description Wood recognition plaque awarded to Barbara Jo Davis with engraving on black metal plate, circa 1989. Engraved text reads: "PRESENTED TO BARBARA JO DAVIS / PRESIDENT - 1985-89 / IN GRATEFUL APPRECIATON OF YOUR FINE LEADERSHIP IN FURTHERING THE MISSION OF THE NATIONAL COALITION FOR BLACK DEVELOPMENT IN HOME ECONOMICS / JUNE 26,1989". The plaque features a mounted wood gavel above the text plate.

Notes Barbara Jo (Taylor) Davis developed a love for food and cooking early in life and worked in the Betty Crocker Kitchens of General Mills for twenty years before becoming the owner and president of Ken Davis Products, Inc. Davis also served her community through involvement in a mentoring program at North High School, the Global Women's Network board of directors, the National Coalition for Black Development in Home Economics, and the Board of the Hot Summer Jazz Festival, among others. In 2002 Barbara was named Business Home Economist of the Year by the Twin Cities Home Economists in Business.
