According to her obituary in the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Agnes was a fashion designer in Minneapolis most of her life. In 1927 she opened her first store, Agnes Reed Shop, at 65 S. 10th St. in the Handicraft Building. At the time the building was referred to as "Minneapolis' Greenwich Village" because of the many artists located there. Frank Ashford was a renowned portrait artist and painted many elected officials, judges, and even President Calvin Coolidge and his wife Grace. The connection between the two creatives is not known. Frank Ashford died in 1960. More can be learned about him at www.frankashford.com
